Geshema Namdol Phuntsok achieved the top result in all of India and Nepal, in the first group of nuns ever to graduate from the 22-year Geshe degree (the highest Buddhist monastic qualification, equivalent to a PhD or professorship). She is currently the main teacher and oumze (chant leader) at Kopan Nunnery in Nepal, and is very highly regarded. We are excited to announce that Geshema Namdol Phuntsok has agreed to come to Buddha House in Adelaide and teach during July and August this year. This is a rare opportunity to hear teachings in-person (or online) from a very highly qualified teacher in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. The talks (presented in English) will be at an introductory level and are suitable for everyone.
Geshema will be giving a series of talks on Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout July and August in the meditation hall at Buddha House. On Sundays, there will also be community events such as walks and picnics (weather permitting), as well as two afternoon public talks in the meditation hall.
To make Geshema's visit as accessible as possible, Buddha House are offering a number of ways to attend. You can drop-in to individual sessions at Buddha House, or enrol in all sessions for a given weeknight (this option also includes an online streaming link). There is even a "Gold Package" that includes all of Geshema’s teachings for the duration of her visit.
