Brian Raphael Nabors: PulseBruch: Violin Concerto No. 1
Prokofiev: Symphony No. 5
The sumptuous brilliance of Max Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1 holds its own alongside the iconic works of Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms and Tchaikovsky – performed with the joyful lyricism of rising-star American soloist Aubree Oliverson. Guest conductor Kensho Watanabe opens the program with Brian Raphael Nabors’ rhythmically charged rhapsody Pulse, followed by Prokofiev’s popular Symphony No. 5, a bold, triumphant work that captures the spirit of human resilience.
We’re full of surprises. Every Masterworks concert has a surprise inside – a short mystery piece that connects to the program in an unexpected way. Each one is Michael Francis’ little secret.
