About this Event
Come and meet the British Council Collection and Visual Arts Programme team. The team will give a short tour of a small selection of artworks from the British Council Collection. They will speak about their work with artists in the Collection and discuss the opportunities for artists to engage with Collections after their works are acquired.
The British Council Collection is a lending library of British art. For over 90 years, works from the Collection have travelled the globe, being exhibited in over 100 countries.
You will get an insight into the benefits of being in public collections (i.e. care of artwork, legacy, advocacy, accessibility of artwork, programmes, etc.) and how this can be maximised by maintaining a relationship with the collection after acquisition.
The event will close with a chance to connect with other east London artists and a chance for you to put any of your burning questions to the British Council team.
Please note there will be photography taken at this event for Bow Arts and the British Council’s internal reporting and for sharing in print and social media.
This event will take place at the British Council offices at British Council, 1 Redman Pl, London, E20 1JQ
This event is co-curated by Wan Yi Sandra Lam, Curator: Programmes & Engagement at Bow Arts and Chloe Austin, Visual Arts Relationship Manager at the British Council.
