About this Event

BBC 's Contains Strong Language Music and Poetry Workshop.

Join fellow East London-based KS2 and KS3 educators on Wednesday 4 Dec, 4.30-7pm for a fun, hands-on professional development session to explore how Music and Poetry can enhance the curriculum, student voice and transition from KS2 to KS3.

What to Expect
Led by acclaimed poet and educator Christian Foley, this hands-on session will introduce his ‘Learning to Swim’ approach. You’ll experience how Christian uses poetry to help students find and amplify their voices, building self-expression, confidence, and engagement through creative writing.

Expect an engaging and interactive workshop where you’ll:

  • Learn directly from Christian as he recreates the poetry lessons that have inspired and transformed his students.
  • Walk away with practical techniques you can apply immediately in your classroom.
  • Connect with other East London teachers who share a passion for innovative and impactful teaching.

Who Should Attend

This workshop is designed for teachers of Year 6 to Year 8 who are interested in integrating poetry and creative writing into their curriculum. It's especially valuable for those looking to foster student voice and engagement in English and related subjects.
