About this Event

'Bring Your Baby' Guided London Walks are sensitively devised to suit parents and carers of even the tiniest babies to enjoy London’s history. We can stop whenever you like to feed and change - without the stress of feeling you are holding up the group. Because every participant brings their baby, patience and baby’s needs are at the forefront of each walk.

You are welcome to bring friends and family who do not also have a baby.

Both buggies and slings/carriers suitable - we plan all our walks to be step-free. I had a Caesarian and was unable to wear a sling, so we completely understand the need to make all our walks buggy-friendly. Sometimes it's helpful for people who are able to wear a sling/carrier pack to one in their buggy in case baby needs a cuddle during the walk, but there is no obligation to do so!

Walk Starts: Walk Starts: Please meet at Green Park station, Piccadilly, London W1J 9DZ and meet under the awning/bus shelter of Green Park Station (Green Park side). If you are coming via tube to Green Park underground station (step free), follow the signs for Green Park/The Ritz and head up the the ramp. Leave the park onto Piccadilly, and look for us under the awning/bus shelter directly outside.

Walk Ends: Near Oxford Circus tube.

With a stop after about an hour for toilets and baby change at The Royal Academy (Burlington House). At the same time you will also have a break to get refreshment and/or food at one of the many outlets on Piccadilly before regrouping with the guide to resume the walk. The shop at The Royal Academy also has some great gift ideas at Christmas.

What you will discover on this walk - through the festively decorated streets of London, and past some of the most Christmassy shopfronts you're likely to find!

- Why Fortnum and Mason’s early 20th century hampers would be illegal now.

- The shops that developed to serve the men at the Court of St James.

- Who makes Lady Gaga’s corsets.

- Where you can buy a gun for your shooting parties; wine from a centuries old shop; cigars from Churchill’s tobacconist; bespoke shirts, shoes and dressing gowns; cologne that James Bond wears (if he was real that is).

- Who polished his boots with champagne.

- How to behave in Burlington Arcade.

- Where the Prince Regent found out how much he weighed.

- Where both Indiana Jones’s and Charlie Chaplin’s hats came from.

- Who makes royal uniforms.

- The place where those swinging in the Sixties dressed.

- How to follow your nose to the cheese in Jermyn Street.

This walk will be guided by City of London guide, Sue Doe, who also co-wrote Women from Hackney's History.

If on the day of the walk we are forecast to have very bad weather, I may have to postpone the walk. If it's a bit of light rain we will cope!

Every walk follows the usual health and safety guidelines, such as crossing at traffic lights where possible and having hazards pointed out to you at the start and along the route.

There may be times we have to stand in direct sunlight (although I will always choose shade where possible). Please bring all the necessary sun protection for yourself and your child.

It is recommended you bring appropriate drinks and snacks for the duration of the walk, especially if the walk takes place at lunchtime.

I will contact you with booking confirmation after you book. I will supply my mobile number in case of emergencies or in case you are running late. I will also ask you to provide me with a mobile number so you can be contacted for the purposes of the walk, but this is *not for marketing purposes*. Please note that if you are more than a few minutes late I may ask you to catch up with us.

If you like the look of any of my walks, but would prefer to book me privately, please make enquiries at [email protected]. This may particularly be the case if you have people interested who do not have babies.

Important notes about booking:

- Please feel free to invite baby-free friends.

- If for any reason Bring Your Baby Ltd are forced to cancel or postpone an event (for example in the case of illness or extreme weather conditions), you are within your rights to request a refund, though we will always suggest an alternative date for you to attend.
