A Luncheon Discussion with Cardinal Blase J. Cupich and John Heiderscheidt
About this Event

The Union League Club of Chicago, in partnership with the Latino Policy Forum, the Hispanic Federation, and the Chicago Bar Association, invites you to a timely and compelling luncheon discussion on Thursday, May 1, 2025. The discussion will feature His Eminence Cardinal Blase J. Cupich and John Heiderscheidt, a distinguished immigration attorney. This panel, the second in a four-part series focusing on immigration, will be moderated by Robert Kreisman, Chair of the Club’s Public Affairs Committee and 2nd Vice President of the Union League Club of Chicago.

This panel will illuminate the interface of the moral imperatives associated with immigration policy and the legal complexities facing immigrants. These issues are of urgent significance in our current political context. Mr. Heiderscheidt will address how legal frameworks define and constrain immigration status. Cardinal Cupich, a steadfast advocate for human dignity and social justice, will discuss the ethical and moral imperatives of immigration policy—issues of compassion, justice, and human rights. He will address the moral obligations we, as a society, have towards immigrants, regardless of their legal status.

This panel is designed to be a call for reflection, action, and a more humane approach to immigration policy. Following their initial remarks, the panelists will engage in a moderated discussion with time for audience questions.

Join us as we challenge assumptions, examine our shared responsibilities, and engage in a thoughtful exploration of one of the most pressing issues of our time.
