About this Event
Breastivus DC: A Japanese Tea Party Celebrating b00bs
Join us in person for Breastivus DC, a fun and quirky Japanese tea party all about celebrating b00bs!
Join Japanese ceremonial tea master and calligraphy artist Mochi (@mochiakadorogame) for an interactive presentation of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, meditation, calligraphy, circle and breast art motifs.
In this workshop, Mochi will present the history, tools, and rules of a traditional Japanese matcha tea ceremony and calligraphy. We will share a brief history of Japanese kanji and hiragana writing.
Together, we will explore the symbolic and physical meaning of breasts and circles across art, culture, and nature while learning the mechanics of drawing a large circular form with a single brushstroke.
Mochi will demonstrate the technique and provide guidance and support as each participant creates their piece and writes their name or character in Japanese.
This workshop is about presence, observation, the beauty of imperfection, and the softest source of life.
