Breast Cancer Trials Q&A - Sex, Fertility and Pregnancy Join us for a free Q&A on Tuesday, 28 July as our panel of experts discuss the impact of breast cancer on sex, fertility, and pregnancy.
About this Event

A breast cancer diagnosis can reshape how people think about their bodies, relationships and future plans — including sex, fertility and pregnancy. While these conversations are becoming more visible and better understood, they remain complex, deeply personal, and often filled with unanswered questions.

In this upcoming Q&A, we’re bringing together a panel of leading experts alongside women with a lived experience of breast cancer. Together, they will explore how breast cancer intersects with sexual health and intimacy, reproductive choices and identity, while highlighting the critical role of research in improving patient outcomes and quality of life.

Broadcast live from the State Library of Queensland in Brisbane, this event will create a safe and informative space to unpack the questions many people have, but don’t always feel comfortable asking.

What we’ll cover:

  • Sex and intimacy: Breast cancer can have significant physical and emotional effects on sexual health, from hormonal and libido changes, vaginal dryness and genitourinary symptoms, to body image and confidence. Our panel will explore how these challenges show up in real life, strategies for navigating them, and how research is helping to better support patients and their partners.
  • Fertility and family planning: For younger women in particular, a diagnosis can raise urgent and complex questions about fertility. We’ll discuss how treatments may impact fertility, what options exist for preservation, and how advances in research are helping to give people more choice and clarity about their future.
  • Pregnancy after breast cancer: Is it safe to become pregnant after breast cancer? When is the right time? These are common concerns, often surrounded by uncertainty. Our experts will share the latest evidence, address misconceptions, and explain how ongoing research is shaping guidelines and improving confidence for patients considering pregnancy.
  • Emotional wellbeing and identity: Sexuality, fertility and motherhood are closely tied to identity and mental health. This conversation will also explore the psychological impact of these changes and the importance of holistic care that supports both physical and emotional wellbeing.

Whether you’re personally affected by breast cancer, supporting someone who is, working in healthcare, or simply want to better understand these important issues, this Q&A offers expert insight, real experiences and meaningful conversation.

This isn’t just about clinical outcomes; it’s about quality of life, relationships, identity and the future.
