About this Event
Injuries from falls, poisoning, and other household hazards are the leading cause of emergency department visits for children across Alberta; however, many of these injuries are predictable and preventable. During this workshop, we will review the impact of childhood injury, identify common risk factors within the home, and explore safety considerations based on the age, developmental stage, and personality of the child. Participants will leave this workshop with the knowledge to identify home hazards and capacity to provide targeted information to the families they serve.
*Anyone can register for this workshop; however, it will be targeted towards professionals that work with families.
* Please note that this is part 1 of our 3-part Home Safety Series. To receive the full training, register for all of the following courses.
- Part 1: Breaking Down Childhood Injury by Age and Stage
- Part 2: Harm Reduction for Home-Based Injuries
- Part 3: Engaging Families in Home Safety
