About this Event
This event marks two historic anniversaries: the fall of the Berlin Wall (1989) and the European Union’s eastern expansion (2004). Artist Nela Milic will lead a multimedia workshop to help participants reflect on and express their thoughts about these events. Following this, Paulina Korobkiewicz will launch her photobook Homeland, which explores migrant experiences in West Bromwich and Hyson Green. Afterward, guests can enjoy an authentic Polish food experience.
The evening will conclude with a concert by pianist Salome Chitaia, who will perform selected works by Chopin, including Waltz in A-flat Major, Op. 69, Barcarolle, Op. 60, and Ballade No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 23.
This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 7–16 November 2024. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, with generous support from Research England, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
