About this Event
This is the fourth event in the Breakfast Club series for Therapists. Presented by The Therapy Collective. Connect with other therapists over breakfast while learning about important topics. Breakfast, Coffee, and 1.5 Continued Education Credits Included.
Join our guest presenter, Khara Croswaite Brindle, MA, LPC, ACS, CFT-I as she shares strategies in helping clinicians heal from client suicide.
1 in 4 counselors and 1 in 2 psychiatrists will have a client die by suicide in their career. The impact is significant and contributes to a clinician’s ability to remain in the field. By exploring the symptoms experienced by therapists in response to a client suicide as well as strategies mental health leaders can adopt to help them heal, we can begin to eliminate confidential grief and can support more mental health professionals remaining in this industry after a client suicide occurs. Audience will be engaged through Q&A, the power of story, and case vignettes to illustrate the experience from a place of compassionate curiosity. Audience members will leave with 1) deeper compassion for the experience of client suicide with their colleagues, 2) healing tools for themselves as therapist survivors if they’ve had a client die by suicide and 3) ideas for mental health leadership to support clinician healing.
Learning Objectives:
- Explore the physical and psychological impact each client death by suicide has on a clinician
- Identify healing strategies for clinicians experiencing a client suicide
- Develop supportive leadership for mental health professionals to remain in the field after client suicide
