What to Expect
Participants will take part in two symbolic, facilitated processes:
Release
Participants will write words, memories, or experiences from 2025 that no longer serve them onto recycled paper or paint them onto a clay saucer. These items will then be safely burned or broken in a contained, closely monitored setting as an intentional act of release.
Renewal
In the second half of the experience, participants will work with a local artist to create a meaningful piece of art representing their intentions for 2026—something they can take home, display, and return to as a grounding reminder throughout the year.
Grounding practices and emotional safety are woven throughout the experience. Participation in all activities is optional, and attendees are encouraged to move at their own pace.
No artistic experience is required.
Featured Creative Guide
Diane Lou Schmidt (she/her) is a professional illustrator and creative guide with expertise in visual expression across mixed mediums. Her mindful approach helps participants soften their inner critic, reduce anxiety, and access authentic self-expression through creativity. Diane emphasizes the emotional experience of creating over the final product, offering gentle guidance, warm-up exercises, and encouragement for both youth and adults.
