About this Event
Join us on Wednesday, April 15, at the University of Oregon’s Knight Law Center (Room 184) for a friendly and intellectually engaging experience. Listen to speeches for and against the proposition—and, if you wish, share your own.
Proposition: Local governments should prioritize enforcing camping bans on public property.
Note: This resolution does not represent the sponsors’ stance on the issue. Speeches will alternate between support for and opposition to the resolution.
A Braver Angels debate is about the heart as much as the head. It is a highly structured conversation in which participants think together, listen carefully and with curiosity, and allow themselves to be moved by one another’s ideas. It is not a traditional political debate or a debate club. Instead, it is a depolarizing format designed to help us embrace uncertainty, explore shades of gray, and better understand people with different perspectives.
When we do this well, we leave a Braver Angels debate a little closer to the truth, more aware of the sincere and sympathetic feelings of those who disagree with us, and with stronger relationships.
To learn more about our debate format, take a look at our quick start guide. For further information, please visit: https://braverangels.org/what-we-do/debates/.
This is a free, in-person event. An online option is not available.
