About Steven Mead
Steven Mead stands as one of the world's most celebrated euphonium players, with a performance career that spans the globe. His uniquely beautiful tone and expressive approach to music have earned him international acclaim among professional musicians and brass enthusiasts alike.
His impressive achievements include:
• Four-time winner at the National Brass Band Championships at London's Royal Albert Hall
• Two-time recipient of the Euphonium Player of the Year award
• Two-time best soloist in the BBC TV series "Best of Brass"
• Recipient of the prestigious Mortimer Medal (2019) for his outstanding contributions to the global Brass Band movement
With over 75 solo performances annually, Steven has collaborated with prestigious ensembles worldwide, including major symphony orchestras and leading military bands such as the Band of the Garde Republicaine (Paris), The Central Band of the RAF (London), and The US Army Band (Washington DC).
As one of the world's most recorded brass soloists with over 115 CDs to his credit, Steven has also premiered more than 500 works and made significant contributions to euphonium education literature. He currently serves as Professor of Euphonium at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK.
