Screening Join or Die: a documentary on the power of community + why real change happens when we gather, connect, and take action.
About this Event

Join or Die is a documentary about why you should join a club or community and why the fate of America (and democracy itself) depends on it. Rest assured, the message still applies to us in Canada. Following the work of political scientist Robert Putnam (Bowling Alone), the film dives into how community, connection, and civic engagement are essential to building a healthier, more resilient society.

***Heads up we're hosting this event at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre located in Vanier Park not the Beaumont.

Why This Matters for Brands for Better

At Brands for Better, our mission is to connect, inspire, and activate local changemakers to make the world better, one community at a time. This film gets right to the heart of that mission: reminding us that real impact happens when people gather, organize, and act together for good!

What to Expect

A full screening of Join or Die (approx. 90 minutes)

  • A guided conversation afterward to reflect on what the film means for Vancouver, and how we as a community can respond
  • A chance to connect with like-minded changemakers and grow the local movement for good
  • A little suprise and some snacks

Why Attend
As the digital world grows noisier and we increasingly question what’s real, what’s human or AI, true or fabricated, what we’ll crave most are things that are tangible and trustworthy. That’s why in-person communities are becoming more vital than ever: spaces where real people gather, connect, and act together.

This isn’t just a movie night. It’s an invitation to reflect on your role in shaping the future of our city and to plug into a growing network of people who care about people, planet, and purpose.

We connect brands and individuals who want to create positive change, with opportunities to tackle pressing environmental and social issues in our shared community.
