Brad Mehldau and Christian McBride have known each other for almost 35 years and crossed swords several times on their albums with Joshua Redman and Brian Blade. “He was one of the first people I met when I moved to New York in 1989,” McBride recalls, “and playing together is always an inspiring experience.” High time to discover what their dynamic as a duo will unleash. “It’s a dream to play with Christian in this setting. His level of refinement and swing, emotional power and elegance, is unsurpassed,” Mehldau adds. So there’s no lack of mutual respect. Or of high expectations, either.
