About this Event
Join the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland FREE Summer Camp at the Meltzer Clubhouse!
BGCO’s summer enrichment program gives students a fun, safe place to learn, grow, and make friends all summer long. Our program includes activities across five core areas: Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports/Fitness & Recreation.
Students will experience a mix of academic support and hands-on enrichment, such as STEAM mentoring where youth explore science and engineering through engaging projects (like building models and creating culturally relevant art). Each day also includes Power Hour, a dedicated time for academic practice (literacy and math exercises) to help prevent “summer slide” and keep skills strong for the school year.
Older youth may also participate in Money Matters: Make It Count, where they learn real-life financial skills like saving, budgeting, interest, and credit. Students will enjoy visual and performing arts opportunities, including dance classes (hip hop, modern, ballet) and exposure to inspiring live performances. To make summer even more exciting, youth will go on at least one field trip each week, such as the Oakland Zoo, OMCA, Chabot Space & Science Center, and local swimming pools, along with special events throughout the summer.
