About the artist - Boxtape
Emerging from the quiet corners of Sussex, Boxtape is a sonic disruptor, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, they craft a universe where art pop collides with nu metal, electronica, and experimental rock. This isn't just music; it's a meticulously constructed world, brought to life through visceral, stylised music videos that blur the lines between performance art and cinematic storytelling. Boxtape's artistry is defined by its refusal to be confined.
From writing in their childhood bedroom to the hallowed halls of Rockfield Studios, Boxtape's journey is marked by a relentless pursuit of innovation. Through the exploration of classical, prog, metal, and folk in their previous musical outings, to the creation of immersive sound installations exploring nuclear war, they are both an artisan and a visionary, seamlessly blending traditional instrumentation with cutting-edge technology.
In UV Human (their debut solo E.P) each track is a narrative fragment, a glimpse into a world where morning coffee coexists with robotic entities, where personal struggles with mental health intersect with the looming anxieties of climate change. This fusion of the intimate and the epic, the organic and the synthetic, creates a uniquely immersive experience.
This dedication to experimentation, coupled with a fiercely independent spirit, positions Boxtape as a vital voice in the ever-evolving landscape of alternative music. UV Human is the first E.P to be released under the name Boxtape as a solo project and is yet another milestone in a constantly evolving musical legacy.
