About this Event
A fun new show about (mis)understanding the rules for ages 3-6, Boxed In is a story about being made to feel naughty, just because the rules don’t make sense.
Derek and Jon are trying to make sense of a world where nothing quite adds up - where “stop” means “go” and “up” is suddenly “down”. Everyone else seems to understand the rules, but what if you don’t?
Through movement, visual storytelling and gentle humour, Boxed In explores the hidden rules of behaviour and unspoken attitudes – inviting us all to imagine a world where everyone belongs.
It’s a largely non-verbal show for anyone who’s ever felt a bit confused, a bit left out… or a bit boxed in.
This makes it accessible to a wide range of people, including d/Deaf, hard of hearing, BSL users and non-English speakers. Accessible. Inclusive. Made for everyone

Reviews
“Boxes, bubble wrap and bananas all add up to a fabulously fun show about rules and how they can be confusing… A cleverly considered piece of work that is full of laughter but also full of interesting questions”
Everything Theatre
“This is a really funny, entertaining piece of work – also a wonderful experience of normalising disability for children and encouraging them to think about how others share their space. Plus, there are bananas! 🍌🍌”

“This is the best show we’ve seen in a long time! It was hilarious and touching at the same time. My little boy and I laughed a lot during the performance. Thank you for a morning well spent and for allowing us a glimpse into the world of people who experience the world differently and that we can all learn to live together in harmony if we try to understand each other.”
