About this Event

Two Tracks · One Immersive Day

Join us for a full-day rope education intensive designed to meet you where you are in your practice - whether you’re just beginning your rope journey or refining advanced technical skills.

This event is structured into two simultaneous learning tracks, allowing attendees to choose the experience that best fits their skill level and goals. Each track runs as a complete, full-day intensive with progressive curriculum, hands-on learning, and guided exploration.

Both tracks emphasize consent, communication, safety, and intentional practice, with space for questions, integration, and community connection throughout the day.

Foundations Track: Rope 101, 102, 103
A One-Day Intensive | 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch break)

In this class, we will cover rope from the absolute basics through solid foundational patterns that someone just starting out can confidently use.

We will begin with rope fundamentals - types, lengths, care, and maintenance - then move into safety principles and risk awareness. From there, we’ll explore five essential knots that form the foundation of rope practice, including the single column tie (and yes - we’ll teach you exactly what that is). The day will progress into simple patterns and ties that can be used immediately in your practice.

One thing we will not be covering is suspensions, but you will learn the foundational mechanics and techniques that can eventually support suspension work.

Whether you are solo or attending with a partner, this class is designed to welcome you into rope.

Prerequisites
  • None! If you can tie your shoes, we want to teach you everything else!

What to Bring

Pencil and paper for notes and diagrams

Rope (if you have it; loaner rope will be available)

An interest in learning

Instructor Bios
Sandua (aka Kevin) (He/Him · Columbus)

Ask Sandua what he likes about rope and you’ll get an amused grin: “Now that’s complicated.” He enjoys rope’s versatility—from blissed-out rope space to intense, carefully applied sensation—and the challenge of translating a two-dimensional medium onto a three-dimensional body.

With nearly four decades of experience and close to 30 years in the community, he teaches locally and regionally with a focus on accessibility and hands-on learning. He leads Bondage by Kevin (BBK), where thousands of feet of rope are used annually introducing newcomers to kink. He and his slave were honored as GLLA Ohio Master and slave in 2016 and live in Columbus with their cat and two conures.

Imfrayedknot (aka Freya) (She/Her · Columbus)

Freya approaches rope as meditation—literally. With over a decade of experience, she emphasizes communication before, during, and after rope as a core practice of safety and connection.

Her teaching draws from experience in multiple rope styles, including pick-up play and established dynamics, with a focus on negotiation and accessibility. As a switch, she brings both top and bottom perspectives into the classroom, helping students understand rope from multiple sides of the experience.

Advance Track: Bend It, Crunch It, Twist It
A One-Day Intensive | 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1 hour lunch break)

Moving a line a few inches up or down the spine changes where a backbend happens. Pulling two parts of the body together can change how weight distributes through a tie - or how easy it is to breathe. Adding rotation can affect sustainability and breath, and layer in an additional challenge. This intensive digs into three forces in rope - bending, crunching, and twisting - and spends a full day exploring how each one works and how to use it on purpose.

The day is structured to build progressively - starting with more static exploration and gradually incorporating transitions, finishing with a tie that weaves all three concepts together and gives participants space to play with how they interact.

This class emphasizes structural thinking, adaptability, and iteration. It is designed for intermediate to advanced rope practitioners who already have a solid working understanding of at least one back-loading harness, good upline management and want to deepen their technical fluency, creative range, and confidence in moving bodies through space.

This is a harness-agnostic class - attendees are welcome to work with any back-loading chest harness they are comfortable inverting. While the class is designed with tying pairs in mind, self-suspenders are welcome and encouraged to adapt the material to their practice.

Prerequisites

All participants:

• Solid understanding of consent, negotiation, and the general risks involved in rope bondage

• Familiarity with at least one back-loading harness that can be inverted

• Comfortable managing tension, wraps, and basic frictions

• Comfortable managing multiple uplines

Bottoms:

• Your single point suspension equipment

Instructor Bios
Jesse (aka Ropeygoat) (Any Pronouns · Chicago)

📷 Instagram: ropeygoat

Jesse is a queer, polyamorous, neurospicy human and a switchy rope nerd based in Chicago. They’ve been tying since October 2021 and started bottoming regularly about two years ago. Their current rope hyperfocus is the stemless gote, which they’ve been studying and experimenting with across different bodies, contexts, and styles.

As a rigger they enjoy rope that’s sadistic, connective, goofy, and suffery — sometimes all at once. They’re especially interested in how people bridge technical structures, emotional intensity, embodiment, and creativity.

Outside of rope, Jesse spends their time building and bridging communities, caring for their geriatric animals, rock climbing, and more recently, lifting heavy things for fun.

Jenna (aka CuriousJenna) (She/Her · Chicago)

📷 Instagram: curiousjennarope

CuriousJenna (she/her) is a queer, polyamorous, bottom-leaning rope switch. She has been bottoming since 2016 and tying since 2019. On both sides of the slash, she loves rope on the floor, in the air, nice, mean, and in-between. As an instructor, she loves exploring how and why things work. She strives to balance perfectionism with pragmatism, encouraging students to develop a deep understanding that supports creative decision-making, risk mitigation, and the ability to iterate and troubleshoot their own ties.

CreepyJane (She/They · Chicago)

📷 Instagram: creepyjanerope

CreepyJane (she/they) is a weird little freak from Chicago. She is an organizer for Chicago’s Lakeview munch, volunteer host for the Sakura Studio rope jam, staff for Twisted Tryst, and current chair of the Chicago Rope (F)unconference. She has demo-bottomed and presented on topics including emotional sadomasochism, sharps, and rope in Chicago and the greater Midwest and is a passionate advocate for bottoming-focused education.

TheOtherMonster (He/They · Chicago)

📷 Instagram: TheOtherMonsterRope

TheOtherMonster (They/He) has been active in the kink community since 2018. A sadist and rope top with a love for creativity, skill expression, and power exchange, they have educated across the Midwest - Ohio, Wisconsin, and Illinois.

Passionate about kink education, TheOtherMonster believes learning is the key to safer, deeper, and more intentionally depraved play. Their teaching style centers on building skills, confidence, and communication, empowering kinksters to play in ways uniquely suited to them. Whether breaking down technique, mindset, or relationship dynamics, they aim to help others grow into more confident, capable perverts.

Outside of kink, TheOtherMonster can usually be found rock climbing, cycling, or immersed in games of all kinds, always chasing the next challenge.
