Join us for the next Labour History Society SA general meeting and special History Festival event!We’re pleased to celebrate the launch of celebrated People's Poet Geoff Goodfellow's new book, 'Nostalgic Adelaide: Poems Political, Social and Cultural'.
Former Premier Mike Rann will officially launch the book, and Geoff will read from his work.
A poet of working-class Adelaide for more than four decades, Geoff Goodfellow is one of South Australia’s most distinctive literary voices. After leaving school at fifteen and working in a range of semi-skilled jobs, including in the building industry, Geoff began writing in his early thirties. Since then, his poetry and memoir have given voice to the lives, labour, struggles and dignity of ordinary people, especially those too often left out of official histories.
This promises to be a rich afternoon of poetry, memory, politics, labour history and Adelaide life. Signed copies of Geoff’s book will be available, and refreshments will be provided.
