About this Event
The Goethe-Institut Glasgow Book Club invites you to read and discuss (in German) the book Das Fest by Lucy Fricke. New members welcome!
ABOUT THE BOOK
The once celebrated film directorJakob believes he has lost everything. His career is over, his last relationship ended over ten years ago, he feels old, his body is weak and his mind is devoid of ideas. There is nothing to celebrate, he proclaims on the morning of his fiftieth birthday. But his best friend Ellen disagrees. And she sends him on a journey through his past.
Das Fest is a book about middle age. Lucy Fricke tells of loss, forgiveness and friendships without which we would not be who we are. With deep melancholy and unwavering humour, a man looks back on his life, which is just beginning.
