Join us for an exciting evening of fun, culture, and connection at Bollywood Nights on Thursday, Nov 21 from 6:30-8:30pm with an introduction to Bollywood dance led by Pooja Uberoi, live henna artist, Indian appetizers, local brands and more! Class starts at 7PM.

💃 Beginner Bollywood Beats Dance Class: Join Pooja Uberoi, international dance teacher and choreographer, from 7:00PM - 8:00PM for a lively dance class where you'll learn vibrant Bollywood dance moves. No prior experience necessary—just bring your enthusiasm!

🖌️ Henna/Mendhi: Enjoy beautiful henna designs while mingling and connecting with fellow attendees.

🤝 Networking Opportunities: Meet new people, create connections, and grow your community in a welcoming and fun environment.

🛍️ Local Vendors, Drinks & Food: Discover local vendors including Rupees of Wynwood, showcasing their unique offerings while enjoying delicious Indian appetizers (samosas, veggie pakora, Biryani & more!) from Rasoi Indian Kitchen and beverages throughout the evening. How to Register:
Sign up in advance on Eventbrite. $45/$39 Early Bird until 11/3. The first 15 early bird sign ups will receive a special welcome gift from Rupees. Ticket includes class, henna design, beverages, and light bites.

Please note event is non-refundable. In the event of severe weather the class will be moved to a later date and your ticket will be transferred. Note: If you're a Society resident, event is complimentary and a part of your amenities.

What is Bollywood Dance?
Bollywood dance is a vibrant and energetic dance form that originated in the Indian film industry. It combines various dance styles, including classical Indian dance, folk dance, and even Western influences. Known for its expressive movements, colorful costumes, and lively music, Bollywood dance encourages self-expression and creativity, making it accessible and enjoyable for dancers of all levels.

What is Mendhi/Henna?
Mendhi, commonly known as henna, is a traditional art form that involves applying intricate designs on the skin using a natural dye made from the leaves of the henna plant. This practice is often associated with celebrations and special occasions in many cultures, particularly in India. The beautiful designs symbolize joy, beauty, and good fortune, and getting henna is a fun way to enhance your experience at Bollywood Nights.

Born and raised in New Delhi, India, Pooja Uberoi later moved to Mumbai, where she worked in film and television as a choreographer and led one of the largest jazz schools in India. Drawing on her extensive background, Pooja will share insights into her journey as a dance instructor and the rich dance traditions she experienced while growing up in India.

After two decades in India’s dance world, Pooja moved to New York and founded Ikigai USA and BollyJazz. Inspired by her own journey, she created these platforms to promote dance as a way to heal, connect, and inspire people worldwide. Her mission through Ikigai USA is to encourage others to discover their passion and purpose (their "Ikigai") through dance.

Currently, Pooja splits her time between New York City and Miami, teaching students in both cities. She also brings Bollywood dance to various public school dance programs in Brooklyn, NY.
