When documentaries describe the airplanes that defeated Nazi Germany, they will often feature P51’s, B17’s, P38’s, B24’s, F6F’s, and F4U’s. But young farm boys didn’t jump from their tractor to a fighter or bomber immediately. The lessons they learned from Boeing Stearman training continue to influence and guide training for new pilots and CFI’s to this day. In this seminar you will learn how training at the time was more dangerous than combat and how flight training had to evolve. This evolution still affects our training today. Our speaker, Dale Melichar, is a Check Pilot for a legacy airline, CFI, CFII, MEI, and formation and aerobatic pilot. Currently, he is flying a Cessna 190 and a Skybolt while restoring a Boeing Stearman. Dale has over 25,000 hours in aircraft from as large as an Airbus 321XLR to as small as a Piper J3 Cub.
