One of the most popular New Zealand folk artists of the last two decades, multi award-winning songwriter Bob McNeill brings his acclaimed new album TWELVE DREAMS OF THE RIVER to an intimate concert at Vogelmorn Upstairs in Wellington.
McNeill is joined at Vogelmorn Upstairs by longtime collaborator, Auckland-based fiddle player Emily Roughton. A virtuoso violinist from Whangarei, she tours internationally with her band Rough Town and as a soloist for Celtic dance groups. Classically trained, she is infinitely adaptable with her gorgeous stylings and fiery tune playing and is the perfect foil for Bob's lyrical songs.
McNeill's songs have been covered by artists in NZ, Australia, the UK and USA. New Zealand Musician magazine compared his songwriting to Bruce Springsteen and Mark Knopfler; the Dominion Post likened him to Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Luka Bloom and Dougie MacLean. A compelling storyteller, his songs paint vivid pictures of the moments of decision in people's lives. He has three New Zealand Music Awards (Tuis), all for Best Folk Album. Known for his many collaborations with some of New Zealand's finest musicians, this is his first solo tour in a decade and showcases his unique songwriting, celebrated guitar playing and gorgeous live sound.
McNeill tours his new album TWELVE DREAMS OF THE RIVER. Featuring his signature rich songwriting, the album explores themes of life, age and transition, re-imagined as a trip down three iconic rivers - the Manuherikia in the South Island, the Waikato in the North Island, and the Kelvin in his native Scotland. It's McNeill's most intimate work to date, with some of his most beautiful songs.
Don't miss this intimate live show from one of New Zealand's great songwriters.
