Friday June 5th is going to be a fun one at the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave), as we are bringing in one of Canada’s premier Reggae Tribute bands for the very first time, House of David Gang featuring the super talented King Selah! This is going to be a Bob Marley Tribute night, so make sure you come out and enjoy the amazing music of this Legendary artist! The show starts at 9pm, tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.Dubbed Canada’s “Reggae Warriors”, House of David Gang is an authentic reggae band that delivers late 70s and early 80s-style Jamaican reggae originals and the classic roots reggae songs of greats such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Gregory Isaacs and Dennis Brown; mixed with folk, soul, calypso, afrobeat and hip-hop influences. It is fronted by vocalist King Selah. The band takes its name from the House of David, an after-hours spot on Queen Street West that was a hotspot for artists from the City’s burgeoning Rastafarian and reggae community from the late 80’s until the mid 90’s.
Their annual Bob Marley Birthday Tribute has become a staple of the winter music calendar across Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. In Ontario, hundreds of reggae lovers come out for their springtime Original Wailers showcase and Peter Tosh tribute. House of David Gang has performed in front of enthusiastic crowds at top Canadian festivals – the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, Atlantic Jazz Festival, Beaches Jazz Festival. Toronto Festival of Beer, Word on The Street, Irie Music Festival and more. The Band has also shared the stage with K-OS, Mighty Diamonds, Echo Minott, Bushman, The Original Wailers, Mad Professor,, Xavier Rudd and many others.
