Fancy a skateboarding day trip with a like minded crew? We’ve got you! Join us for a 2 hour skate session, lunch and a dip in a pond.
About this Event

Shout out to all women aged 30 and above, as well as gender minority skaters, residing in London, Sussex, and the neighbouring regions! Join us for a day of skateboarding followed by a splash around in the Kenwood Ladies Bathing Pond, Hampstead Heath.

We’ll meet in the morning at Hop Kingdom for a 2 hour private session, with the brilliant Sarah from @yellowhatskateschool along to give everyone some tips.

From there we’ll refuel over lunch (food is not included, but we’ll have a private area booked for our crew).

In the afternoon we’ll head to Hampstead Heath to swim, relax and maybe even sunbathe.

This event is suitable for all skill levels from beginners to advanced, although most of us are novices! We just ask that you bring your own kit and can confidently stand and push on a board (and for this event attendees need to be confident swimmers too).

Price includes private rental of Hop Kingdom (for no more than 15 of us) + skate instructor + pond entrance + a brilliant crew.

THE PLAN:

Meet near London Bridge Station for 9am. Quick 'Coffee and Croissant' stop at The Watch House then onto our first stop.

STOP 1: HOP KINGDOM- 10am-12pm

Hop Kingdom is an indoor skatepark in the heart of London, located under two railway arches on the Bermondsey Beer Mile. A five minute walk from London Bridge station. All ramps are moveable making it a flexible space for all skill levels.

Here we will be joined by skate instructor Sarah from @yellowhatskateschool. Sarah is a skater, surfer and snowboarder in her 30s, who has followed her passion for skating by starting up her own skate school in London. She hopes to be able to encourage and inspire other girls and women to take up skating, and to spread the joy of skating to as many people from different backgrounds as possible.

LUNCH STOP: Lunch is not included in the ticket price but we will book a space for us all somewhere near London Bridge to grab a bite and a drink before heading to our next stop.

STOP 2: THE POND- Kenwood Ladies Pond is a popular destination for women seeking a peaceful and secluded place to swim, sunbathe, and relax. The pond is surrounded by lush greenery and tall trees, creating a tranquil and serene environment that is perfect for unwinding and escaping the hustle and bustle of city life.

The pond is also home to a diverse range of wildlife, including ducks, swans, and a variety of fish. Visitors can often spot kingfishers diving for their prey, and the occasional heron perched on the edge of the pond.

Check out this brilliant article about the pond featuring author Deborah Moggach, novelist Margaret Drabble, writer and activist So Mayer- https://www.theguardian.com/global/2019/jun/16/the-ladies-pond-deborah-moggach-so-mayer-and-margaret-drabble-dive-in
