What you'll learn
Board games have been a popular form of entertainment for generations. They encourage critical thinking, social interaction, and creativity. In today's digital age, understanding game design can lead to careers in various fields such as game development, education, and marketing. By engaging in this camp, students will connect to the broader world of gaming and explore how games can reflect real-life scenarios, teach valuable skills, and bring people together.
Students will work in small groups to brainstorm ideas, share resources, and support each other throughout the design process. They will collaborate on playtesting each other's games, providing feedback, and helping to troubleshoot issues.
This collaboration will foster a sense of community and teamwork among the students.
Board Game Maker incorporates elements from various subjects, including mathematics (calculating probabilities and scoring), art (designing game boards and pieces), and language arts (writing rules and narratives).
