It’s Lorenz Hart’s birth month and The Great White Way meets the world of swing! In this super fun hour, come celebrate the man whose classic Broadway songs became jazz standards. Renowned jazz singer Shannon Butcher takes us through the Lorenz Hart Songbook, with hit after hit after hit written with Richard Rodgers. You’ll love her version of such classics as The Lady is a Tramp, My Funny Valentine, Manhattan and, of course, Blue Moon. Join us for a swingin’ afternoon!
Shannon Butcher is an acclaimed Canadian singer, songwriter, arranger and record producer. Her first album, Words We Both Could Say, earned her an iTunes’ Best New Jazz Artist of the Year award. In addition to releasing four more albums, Shannon has recorded with numerous jazz artists and can be heard on the soundtrack to the hit video game Cuphead. She has performed across the USA and England, and her music-streaming fan base reaches from Europe to Japan. A graduate of U of T, Shannon has taught jazz at Humber, Mohawk College and TMU, and she is a sought-after teacher, currently running her own voice studio. www.shannonbutcher.com
