The Christmas season brings happiness and joy to many but it is also a time of grief and sadness. The death of a loved one, caring for a child with cancer, the anguish of a broken relationship or divorce, sadness in being unable to have a child, loneliness or isolation, living with a communicable disease, struggling to deal with unemployment burnout, make us feel "blue" in the midst of Christmas cheer. We hurt, and are simply unable to get into the festivities. Old Swedes Church and Old Swedes Historic Site want you to know you are alone. We invite you to come to Old Swedes Church, 606 N. Church St., Wilmington, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 7:00pm to join in sharing in a ceremony of prayers, sacred text, music and poetry. Allow yourself grace and gentleness, and place a blue ribbon of remembrance on a tree in hope you will find comfort in knowing you are not alone. The Right Reverend Kevin S. Brown, Bishop of the Episcopal Church in Delaware, will bring words of comfort. David Simmons, Director of Music at Trinity Episcopal Parish and the Choir of Trinity Parish will lead us in music. The service of remembrance and hope will be followed by a time of lite refreshments and fellowship.
