About this Event
Block Print Berlin — The Māya Experience Series is Atelier Māya’s original block printing programme, developed through long-term field research and Print Thinking.
Print & Repeat is a focused study of rhythm, repetition, and pattern. Working in an analogue studio at Berlin’s only sustainable block-printing atelier, participants approach print as a disciplined design practice rather than technique.
Using eco-friendly inks, hand-carved woodblocks, and found tools, participants design and print repeat patterns, observing how structure, restraint, and material shape form.
Informed by Bauhaus principles, Print Thinking, and heritage craft research, the session balances experimentation with structure and process. Participants leave with test prints, a finished textile, and a grounded understanding of print and pattern.
Print & Repeat
Our most requested workshop series.
Print & Repeat is a focused exploration of pattern making through rhythm, repetition, and layering. This series builds on our Introduction to Block Printing, introducing the creative challenge of composing repeat patterns on fabric.
The format has been refined based on insights from over 250 participants who joined our eco-craft and slow design workshops over the past year, as well as through our ongoing studies with master block printers across various print traditions. Every exercise has been shaped by real studio practice, our print and craft research and community feedback.
In one immersive session, you’ll step into the full Māya creative process, from intuitive colour exploration and #FLOW test printing to structured pattern building and the printing of your own wearable or functional textile.
Inspired by Bauhaus teachings, Print Thinking, and heritage craft research, this winter series explores how repetition and layering can transform even a single block and a single colour into a complex, expressive surface. Up for the challenge?

From the hands of a printer, the heart of a storyteller.
"Every print we make carries its own story. I am looking forward to sharing all the stories of a decade of print thinking."
“Each workshop brings me back to the teachings of my teachers in the field. Their work continues to shape how I think about print, colour exploration and the tools that we use in our print practice. Most importantly, we continue to learn to listen to material. I look forward to sharing the stories of my teachers and their practices, and to inspiring each participant to find their own language within print thinking.”
