Relaunch Edition · New Studio Format

8 seats. Almost sold out in every edition in 2025. We are back in 2026, each participant now works at their own custom-designed 2 metre print table.

This is your studio day inside a professional textile atelier.

You do not attend a class. You work within a material system.

You leave with a finished textile and a process you can continue or replicate in your own practice.

(NOTE: This workshop is offered in English and German; we have a German/English translator to guide native speakers during the experience, if needed. This is a structured workshop, but we are keeping the doors open until everyone feels they have completed their work. You can work till we close the doors to our atelier, we know you will find your #flow.)

The Experience

Led by textile researcher and printmaker Lizane and sashiko artist Keiko, the day moves between block printing and sashiko stitching.

Both practices are approached as one system. Print establishes structure. Stitch responds.

We begin with print. Working with hand-carved blocks, eco-inks mixed in-house, and new print surfaces developed by Atelier Māya, you build pattern, repetition, and colour across your textile.

In the second part of the day, Keiko introduces sashiko. Stitch becomes a way to respond to what has been printed. You can reinforce, extend, or disrupt the composition. The textile develops gradually across both processes.

You are welcome to bring pre-washed, light-coloured natural-fibre garments or textiles if you want to work on your own pieces. Denim is also suitable for the explorations.

(Note: Tea, coffee, juice, mineral water and a stocked mini bar are available to participants. Please pack yourself a mini lunch or snacks for your lunch break!)

The New Format

Following a run of near-sold-out workshops in 2025, this session returns in an expanded format.

Every participant now works at their own custom-designed 2 metre print table, built for slow, spacious, process-led work.

This format is specific to Atelier Māya and has been developed through ongoing studio practice and field research.

Each participant works at their own custom-designed 2 m print table
– Small group, maximum 8 participants
– Process-led, studio-based format
– Individual guidance throughout the day

What you will work on:

You will develop textiles across the day, moving between print and stitch. This may take the form of an atelier-developed print surface, a selected textile object, or your own garment or fabric.

Test printing is an important part of the process; your test prints form your ongoing FLOW collection. You will build your own mini archive of prints. You will build your own visual vocabulary.
