About this Event
This is the first annual Black Tulip™️ public day of Art, Action & Advocacy! Betti Ono will host a day of artist-led large scale public art installations alongside popular education to collectively move on local policy that Protects Black Women, girls and gender expansive folks.
With over 30 cultural collaborators and artists, including Oakland’s MAMA REGINA and global iconic artist-ivist DAWN RICHARD - the Lake Merritt Amphitheater will be activated with live music, performing arts, siren sound healing, community altar making and series of pledges.
In Oakland, Black women, girls and gender expansive folks are going missing, being violently harmed, murdered and trafficked. With artists being critical pillars that shift cultural policy, Black Tulip™️ is urging a Protect Black Women & Girls Act at the state level in California through art advocacy.
