Black Maternal Health Week 2024

Arizona Birthworkers of Color Presents

Black Maternal Health Week Community Pop Up

Join Us for Community, Culture, and Connection!

Held annually on April 11-17th, BMHW is a week-long campaign founded and led by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance to build awareness, activism, and community-building to amplify the voices, perspectives, and lived experiences of Black Mamas and birthing people.

Arizona Birthworkers of Color (AZBOC), founded in 2016, is a group of people of color who offer services supporting families before, during, and after childbirth. We are also advocates, stakeholders, business owners, and leaders within the field of birthwork, locally and nationally. The overreaching intention of AZBOC is to uplift, support, and create space for connection amongst Birthworkers of Color in Arizona in an effort for BOC to be seen, heard, and honored. Arizona Birthworkers of Color is a nonprofit program of The Phoenix Birth Foundation.

Black Pregnant families and those desiring to become Pregnant are invited to discover resources to help you on your journey.

All the individuals and organizations present for this event have been carefully vetted and approved by an invitation-only process to ensure respectful treatment, loving care, and safety from any further harm to people who are almost constantly harmed in this process.

We desire for you to feel free in this space.

Expect to Meet–

Black Midwives

Black Doulas

Black Lactation Consultants

Black Mental Health Professionals

And we going to have fun too! Enjoy a live DJ, dance performances, food, a coveted spot for dads and other partners to chill, and a special children’s craft area!

We advise that this event is geared toward Black families who are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, in the postpartum period, or currently parenting!

Lastly, participants will asked to sign a photo/image release upon arrival. Our official photographer and AZBOC planning team will capture photos and videos during the event. Thank you for your cooperation.
