On Saturday, February 8 , 2025 @ 11a.m., the Friends of the Carver presents the Black History Breakfast Lecture Series. This series is a family based program to feed the body and mind with a continental breakfast and Black history. The Friends of the Carver and Carver Library, invites family and community to come out and enjoy a light breakfast and learn about the Black experience.
Guest Speaker: Deborah Omowale Jarmon
We are excited to announce that Deborah Omowale Jarmon will be the guest speaker for our upcoming event. She is the Executive Director of the San Antonio African American Community Archive & Museum (SAAACAM), an organization dedicated to preserving, collecting, and sharing the stories and history of the African American community in San Antonio.
During her presentation, Deborah will provide valuable insights into the history and mission of SAAACAM, highlighting its vital role in documenting the rich cultural heritage of African Americans in the city. She will also discuss the impact of SAAACAM on the community, its ongoing efforts to engage and educate, and how the museum serves as a bridge to connect past, present, and future generations.
Her leadership and dedication to the African American community have made her a pivotal figure in the effort to ensure that the history and contributions of African Americans are recognized and celebrated in San Antonio.
