Black Girls Hike: Epping Forest Foraging Walk

Circular route. 3.5 hours including lunch and breaks. Join Cherrelle Douglas x BGH on a medicinal herb walk through Epping Forest as part of the Grow Festival and BIG GREEN WEEK.
We’ll explore and connect with the medicine that can be found growing around us, learning how to identify medicinal plants, delve into their therapeutic properties, and look at how they can be incorporated into our daily lives to support health and wellbeing. We’ll also be sampling some herbs along the way through sensory tea tasting.
The aim of the walk is to deepen your connection to nature, build relationships with the plants that surround us through the senses, and become empowered in how these plants can be supportive through medicine and food.
Bio
Cherrelle Douglas is a qualified medical herbalist - supporting people one-to-one with a variety of health challenges, a herbal and holistic health educator, and workshop facilitator.
She was led to herbalism with the intention of reconnecting to the medicine that nature has to offer. Her goal is to share this knowledge, empower others to claim sovereignty and autonomy over their health. She is passionate about helping people reconnect, not only to nature’s medicine, but to themselves, and believes harnessing the knowledge of plant medicine is an act of resistance within the systems in which we live.

Can I come to Black Girls Hike?
As the name suggests, this is a safe space for Black/Mixed Race cis and trans women and
non-binary people of Black African and / or Caribbean descent who are comfortable in a
space that centres the experiences of Black women. We are not a BAME, POC, BIPOC,
WOC, Politically Black or Ally organisation.
What do I need to bring?
Walking boots / shoes with ankle support essential. No pumps or sliders.
