Through food and storytelling, children will connect creativity with culture in a hands-on activity of recreating Maya Angelou’s famous banana pudding and reading When Birds Could Talk & Bats Could Sing: The Adventures of Bruh Sparrow, Sis Wren, and Their Friends by Virginia Hamilton, a lively collection of tales rooted in African American folklore.Facilitated by Ashley J. May of Kinfolk Archive, this event is part of the Lil’ Free Bird Library, a living collection of rare and vintage books deaccessioned by public libraries.
