Black Film Club Collective Presents: Matinee + Mimosas at Three Cities Social
Join us for a Sunday afternoon rooted in cinema, conversation, and community. Matinee + Mimosas is our signature daytime film series celebrating Black storytelling paired with bottomless mimosas and an easygoing, welcoming atmosphere.
This edition centers Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, directed by Bill Duke and starring Whoopi Goldberg as Deloris Van Cartier, who returns to the convent to help transform a struggling inner-city Catholic school through the power of music, mentorship, and community. Featuring unforgettable performances from Lauryn Hill, Kathy Najimy, and the film’s dynamic ensemble cast, Sister Act 2 blends comedy, gospel, soul, and coming-of-age storytelling into a joyful celebration of Black youth, creative expression, and collective uplift. Decades later, the film remains a beloved cultural touchstone that continues to resonate across generations.
