About this Event
The Black Carers Project runs three different group workshops on an ongoing basis with a vision of building a network of black carers to offer a space to promote wellbeing, providing support and allowing time for creativity.
Our workshops are available to unpaid black carers who live and are registered in the borough of Southwark.
The aims of the Black Carers Project are to:
- Strengthen resilience and wellbeing amongst black carers in Southwark
- Raise awareness and increase the use of preventative physical and mental health interventions amongst black carers.
- Improve access to community-based support to reduce social isolation
- Empower and build capacity and resources in the BAME voluntary sector
We offer three different group workshops which are run on a regular basis for Black Carers to share a supportive space to discuss and manage the challenges they face.
Black Art Workshop - every Wednesday from 2pm – 4pm
Join our arts and craft workshops for mental health support. You will have the opportunity to express yourself creatively, find solace in crafting which will boost you’re your wellbeing whilst being part of a supportive community.
Black Dialogue Therapy - on the last Wednesday of each month from 7pm – 8:30pm
Join our therapy group for black carers to come together to talk about experiences of caring for a family member, friend or loved one in a safe and confidential space with others? This space offers understanding, community and empowerment as we address black experiences. Facilitated by Dione Dalley, a qualified, HCPC registered psychotherapist.
Journey through the chakras – Bi-weekly on Friday from 10am – 11am
Join us on the journey of mental clarity, through our meditation class which aims to reduce stress and help you stay grounded.
