Join Us for Black Authors on the Rise: A Celebration of African and Caribbean Culture and Literature! We’re thrilled to invite you to Black Authors on the Rise , an inspiring event dedicated to celebrating the incredible talent and stories of some of the 150+ Black authors we’ve published at Conscious Dreams Publishing.
While many discussions highlight the scarcity of Black authors in the publishing world, we’re here to showcase that the narrative is changing. Over the past nine years, Conscious Dreams Publishing has proudly published a diverse array of books across genres—self-development, memoirs, sci-fi, adult and children’s fiction, health and wellness, and educational titles. Now, we’re coming together to celebrate these voices and the cultural richness they bring to the literary world.
Event Highlights:
- Author Talks : Hear directly from our authors as they share their journeys, inspirations, and the challenges they've overcome.
- Workshops for Aspiring Authors : Interested in becoming an author? Join our workshops for both adults and children, offering insights into the publishing process and guidance on how to start your writing journey.
- Cultural Celebration : Enjoy entertainment, food, and drink that reflect the vibrant cultures of Africa and the Caribbean.
- Support and Empower : Encourage our children to explore literature that represents them, and be inspired to take pen to paper yourself.
This event isn’t just a celebration—it’s a movement to uplift and empower Black voices in literature. Whether you're a reader, an aspiring writer, or simply someone who wants to support Black authors, this is an event you won’t want to miss.

1pm: The Storytelling Workshop: Craft Your Own Adventure, with Daniella Blechner, Author and Founder of Conscious Dreams Publishing
About the Organisers
Conscious Dreams Publishing and its founder Daniella Blechner are dedicated to amplifying diverse voices and championing Black literature. In 2024, they were shortlisted for the Alison Morrison Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award and recognised for their commitment to elevating African-Caribbean and neurodivergent authors through extensive outreach in schools, workshops, and events. Judges praised them for "walking the walk" on DEI, with diversity deeply embedded in their mission.
With over 150 authors of African and Caribbean heritage published, Conscious Dreams Publishing is reshaping representation in literature, particularly in children’s books, where only 9% feature ethnic minority characters. They believe every child deserves to see themselves in the stories they read and are proud to give a platform to the unheard and unseen. Representation truly matters at Conscious Dreams Publishing.
