Every Woman Deserves a Beautiful Birth Story

"Birthing Justice", a feature-length documentary film, captures the experiences and challenges of Black women, their families, caretakers and advocates, and examines the structures and systems that determine disparate rates of mortality.

Directed by Monique N. Mathews and featuring executive producers such as Olympic champion Allyson Felix, "Birthing Justice" captures the experiences and challenges of Black women, their families, caregivers, and advocates. It examines the systemic structures contributing to these disparities and celebrates efforts aimed at transforming the narrative from one of tragedy to hope.

The documentary has garnered attention for its impactful storytelling, prompting discussions about the need for systemic change in maternal healthcare. It has been screened at various events and institutions, including Johns Hopkins University, where students reflected on its powerful message.
