Dr Rochelle Steven will present findings from Murdoch University and the CLAWS Working Group from their survey of the Albany and Surrounds community’s involvement in cat management and responsible pet ownership. Hear about the role community is playing in managing feral and roaming cats.
Viv Read will represent the BirdLife WA Advocacy Group in presenting significant updates in the urgency of advocacy for the future of birds in WA. We have put some numbers on the rate of native vegetation clearing to find much more is being lost than expected. A respected consultant has undertaken a review of clearing permits systems for us and looked at how we can be more effective in responding here in WA. Not surprisingly, we have found weaknesses in the system that need to be fixed. The WA EPA is undergoing changes and additionally there are the EPBC Act reforms that are seriously delayed. Developments are being approved and the State economy is thriving, but some of our birds aren’t. We will discuss what more as a branch we can do.
The meeting is open to all and entry is by gold coin donation, light refreshments will be available.
If you feel at all unwell - PLEASE STAY HOME.
