Join Outdoor Chattanooga for a guided and fully equipped kayak adventure along the renowned Alabama Birding Trail in Stevenson. This scenic paddle is an out and back, launching from the Stevenson City Park boat launch, where Crow Creek Refuge, a 3,346-acre refuge, adjoins the park along the quiet backwaters of Lake Guntersville.Perfect for beginners and experienced paddlers alike, this guided kayak trip blends outdoor recreation with exceptional birding opportunities in a uniquely beautiful setting. Bring a "trail" lunch to enjoy along the way. Expect about 2-2.5 hours on the water.
Along the way, you might see mallards, coots, cormorants, northern pintails, green-winged teal, lesser scaup, pied-billed grebes, redheads, canvasbacks, ruddy ducks, and big flocks of Canada geese. White pelicans sometimes pass through during migration, too. Keep an eye on the shoreline for killdeer, belted kingfishers, ring-billed gulls, meadowlarks, and the always-present great blue heron — and if you’re lucky, you may even spot green herons and the area’s standout red-headed woodpeckers any time of year.
Registration is limited. Listed time is program time launch to takeout. Transportation to Stevenson is available departing earlier and additional information is shared in your confirmation email, or call the office.
