About this Event
Behind the Sound is an honest look at what really happens on the other side of the speakers, the systems, the surprises, and the parts nobody sees.
Led by Barry O’Brien, Head of Sound at Tresor Berlin, the session blends technical insights, real-life stories, and reflections on the invisible work that keeps music spaces alive. It’s a conversation about what this work can really be, from acoustics and system design to the unpredictable realities of life in sound.
About Barry O’Brien: Barry is Head of Sound at Tresor Berlin, one of the city’s best-known club and label institutions. With more than 14 years of experience in live sound and event production, Barry has worked across clubs, concerts, festivals, synth showcases, and large-scale events throughout Europe, the US, and Australia.
He has a deep respect for the physics of sound and a hands-on, problem-solving approach that is as restless as it is practical, always ready to dive into unexpected challenges, adapt on the spot, and push for the best result in every unique space and situation. Barry values the hidden work that keeps systems sounding their best, the things most people never see but always feel. Through his Masterclasses and mentoring, he shares the parts of this craft that don’t fit neatly into manuals or job titles: how he has learned to adapt, stay curious, and keep pushing for what good sound can be.
