Thinking in Rhythm: A workshop with Ranjit Barot

Open to students of rhythm, this immersive workshop goes beyond technique into the very soul of rhythm. Ranjit welcomes your questions, reflections, and musical journeys. This is a space to listen, engage, and play. For those who live and breathe rhythm, this promises to be a transformative experience.


Who Can Apply:

- Anyone over 12 years old

- Participants with at least 3 years of training in Indian percussion or 5 years in western rhythms.


Workshop Guidelines:

- Bring your percussion instruments.  


About Ranjit Barot

Ranjit Barot is one of India’s most iconic musicians — a world-class drummer whose groove, technique, and inventiveness have made him a sought-after name on the global stage. His collaborations span giants like John McLaughlin, Wayne Krantz, and Bill Evans. Deeply rooted in the world of jazz and rock, Ranjit brings an unmistakable voice to rhythm, fusing Western structures with the soul of Indian classical music. His work with legends like Zakir Hussain showcase this unique sensibility. For over two decades, he has also been the musical director of AR Rahman’s live concerts, shaping their signature, sound and energy. As performer, composer, and mentor, Ranjit Barot redefines musical boundaries with boldness and brilliance.
