Important information to participants:

  • The walk is through the forest on tracks which can be very muddy, so we recommend wellington boots or strong sturdy waterproof boots. There will be boot washing facilities at the entrance to The Hive site that we encourage you to use.
  • Please dress for the weather – we recommend plenty of layers that you can take on or off as the buildings at The Hive are heated so you may want a bag to store your spare layers in while you warm up indoors.
  • Please bring food for lunch – there are no shops nearby, so we recommend you bring a packed lunch to eat on site.
  • Parents / Carers - Hive staff will lead the events, explain activities, introduce rules, and assist all children where they can. However, carers will be expected to support their children with the practicalities and help enforce rules. It is the joint responsibility of all adults to keep the group safe.
  • Toilets, baby-changing and hand washing facilities are available on site.

Difficulty: Easy/Moderate – Walk through Epping Forest to the Hive. Expect some inclines, uneven ground, there are well made paths for part of the walk and some open fields, which will be muddy if there has been rainfall.

Age: Families and children. Babies under 2 do not need to be registered on the event.
