About this Event
“One of the qualities of the ocean of pure consciousness within - is creativity - so within every human being, there is unbounded, infinite, eternal creativity.” – David Lynch, from the book Beyond the Beyond.
This January, 7th House, The Philosophical Research Society, and Zebulon honor one of the great all-time masters of cinema with their series NIGHT BLOOMING JASMINE: A CELEBRATION OF DAVID LYNCH, with events throughout the month at both PRS and Zebulon. Perhaps no artist has ever imbued their work with such darkness, mystery, wonder, beauty, and humor, a consummate creator whose journeys into the far reaches of imagination and consciousness have left an indelible and eternal mark on the world. Join us at The Philosophical Research Society on January 24th for a one-of-a-kind workshop exploring creativity and consciousness, guided by Lynchs's philosophies.
This creativity, meditation, and sound workshop inspired by the work of David Lynch invites participants into the fertile silence beneath thought, where ideas originate before they take form. Drawing on Lynch’s lifelong practice of meditation, as well as his books Catching the Big Fish and Beyond the Beyond, we’ll explore Lynch’s belief that creativity emerges from accessing deeper levels of consciousness. The workshop blends creative prompts and guided meditations with live immersive soundscapes, interspersed with spoken word recordings by David Lynch himself, to quiet surface noise and awaken intuition. Rather than forcing inspiration, participants learn to listen. The experience emphasizes Lynch's conviction that creativity is a state of being: a tuning of perception, where inner calm becomes the wellspring for vision, clarity, and imaginative flow. Bring a journal, a pen, and a mind that is open!
This workshop is led by The Library of Esoterica’s Jessica Hundley, who worked closely with Lynch on Beyond the Beyond, (a book exploring creativity and meditation), as well as interviewing Lynch numerous times throughout his legendary filmmaking career.
With live soundscape by SEEKERS.

JESSICA HUNDLEY
Jessica Hundley is an acclaimed writer, creative director, and filmmaker whose work traces the intersections of art, music, mysticism, and counterculture. With roots in cultural journalism, she has held editorial roles at Dazed & Confused and The Fader, and continues to contribute to leading publications including Vogue, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times. As an author and curator, Hundley has published more than a dozen books, among them a celebrated biography of country-rock icon Gram Parsons, a collaborative exploration of music and meditation with filmmaker David Lynch, and a definitive visual monograph on the photography of Dennis Hopper. She is also the creator and series editor of TASCHEN’s —an international best-selling collection of encyclopedic volumes that visually chart the histories of esoteric traditions. Titles in the ongoing series include Tarot, Astrology, Plant Magick, Witchcraft, Sacred Sites, and the newest, Spirit Worlds.
The Library of Esoterica has ignited a global conversation about the transformative role of mysticism in contemporary culture—illuminating how spirituality shapes our creativity, our rituals, and our connection to the natural world. Beyond the page, Hundley regularly leads women-focused retreats, workshops, lectures, and panel discussions that explore the divine feminine, the symbolic language of art, and the ways in which esoteric traditions inform contemporary creativity. Her speaking engagements—at museums, cultural institutions, universities, and international festivals—invite audiences into a deeper dialogue about storytelling, symbolism, and humanity’s enduring search for meaning.
Across mediums, Hundley’s work seeks to bridge imagination and inquiry, cultivating shared experiences that honor the power of ritual, the vitality of creativity, and the universal human drive to connect with mystery.
