About this Event
Join a group of researchers from Liverpool, Lancaster, Sheffield Hallam, Edge Hill, Surrey, Bangor, and Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University in China, for a discussion on an ongoing SEDA-funded project that explores the impact and influence of Generative AI on multimodal teaching, learning and assessment practices. The ultimate aim of the project is to produce a guide for educational developers on incorporating Generative AI technology into multimodal pedagogic spaces.
Multimodal learning is where activities, pedagogies and artefacts created by both students and staff alike utilise multiple forms of communication to present their ideas – this might be any combination of text, image, audio, video and tactile ways of presenting information. AI has the potential to transform this practice, by offering students more opportunities to work with different forms of information, and to more easily and effectively transform artefacts from one form of information to another.
This symposium will introduce participants to the project, provide opportunities to explore multimodal pedagogies and Generative AI, and showcase case studies and ideas on how to incorporate AI into multimodal teaching. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own use of multimodal pedagogies and how GenAI might help inform them via interactive workshops, and will be shown examples and case studies from researchers working in multiple disciplinary contexts where this is being done already.
The symposium will take place online via Zoom, if you have any questions please email [email protected].
This event is hosted by the Centre for Innovation in Education and may be recorded, you can opt-out at any time by contacting [email protected].
