Beyond Monogamy: Community, Connection, and Compersion Join us for a cozy and enriching evening of community discussion, breakout conversation designed to nourish authentic connection, and tea at The Center.
What to expect
Group Discussion and Q+A with Dr. Marie Thouin, Bonobos founder, William Winters, and humhum founder, Alexandra Ballensweig PhD and Author Dr. Marie Thouin will delve into some of her research on compersion, and share findings from her book What is Compersion? Together we’ll explore the concept of compersion, how it shows up for each of us, and where we feel challenged. We’ll explore how compersion can enhance our relationships and community experience.
Wisdom Sharing:
Learn from the experiences of other in the CNM space; whether you’ve been living into CNM for decades, or just dipping your toe in—com share your insights, questions, and experience with others.
Slow-Friending:
Think speed-dating, but slower, without agenda, and centered on connection building rather than “pick-ups.” humhum will facilitate a connection experience inviting you to engage in meaningful conversations that prioritize depth and authenticity.
Tea After Hours:
From 9-10pm, join the after par-tea! Chat further with new connections, enjoying tea on the house.

About your hosts
William Winters
William is the founder and co-organizer of Bonobo Network. William is a San Francisco Sex Information-trained sex educator, a Somatica Institute-trained sex and relationship coach, and a voracious student of sexuality and relating. He also serves as a member of the Organization for Polyamory and Ethical Non-Monogamy (OPEN)’s board of directors. William’s perspectives on nonmonogamy have appeared in San Francisco Magazine, KQED's Forum, the San Francisco Chronicle, the New York Times, and podcasts including Multiamory and Normalizing Non-Monogamy. He has facilitated conversations about polyamory and sexuality in settings including university campuses, political conferences, living rooms, festivals, Burning Man, and beyond.
Dr. Marie Thouin
Marie Thouin, PhD is the author of "What is Compersion? Understanding Positive Empathy in Consensually Non-Monogamous Relationships," the first-ever comprehensive scholarly book on compersion. She has been featured in several publications and podcasts, including ELLE, the Savage Lovecast, The Times of London, and HuffPost.
Marie has also published seminal research studies, the first encyclopedia entry on compersion, and is the creator of www.WhatIsCompersion.com, a popular website that features her research, blogs, and resources on the topic of compersion.
She is the Founder of Love InSight, a Mindful Dating & Relationship Coaching practice where she supports and guides people of all backgrounds and relational orientations to create intentional and vibrant love lives.

Alexandra Ballensweig
Alexandra Ballensweig is the founder and CEO of humhum, a community-first, intentional dating platform that fosters authentic connection, personal-growth, and wellbeing. After 10+ years as a facilitator; first in design thinking and innovation at BCG Digital Ventures, then consulting with startups in product and design, and as a certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor, humhum emerged at the intersection of Alexandra's love for experience design, human connection, and transformational experiences that foster well-being.
