This November, a new exhibition takes over Shoreditch for one night only.
Between Worlds opens on Thursday 27th November, 7-10pm, at theprintspace Gallery, Shoreditch. The show brings together two emerging voices in contemporary painting, and , whose practices meet in the spaces between contrast and connection, movement and stillness, tradition and transformation.
Safeyah is a Manchester based artist whose practice bridges classical oil painting with contemporary street aesthetics. Drawing on Renaissance-inspired techniques and the raw immediacy of graffiti, her work explores the dialogue between past and present and tradition and rebellion. Through layered textures and symbolic contrasts, Safeyah’s paintings inhabit the in-between spaces where history and identity meet transformation.
Riona is a Manchester based artist whose work navigates the space between movement and stillness and interior and exterior. Her paintings capture moments in flux: driving landscapes, evolving architectural forms, and the delicate interplay of clarity and obscurity. Operating in the in-between spaces of memory and motion, Riona invites viewers to reflect on what it means to change while remaining, and to exist between worlds.
Together, Safeyah and Riona’s practices complement each other beautifully as Safeyah creates the dialogue between classical form and contemporary expression while Riona focuses on bridging the gap between movement and stillness. As friends and collaborators, they bring a shared vision to Between Worlds, where their two distinct approaches merge to create something truly unique.
The exhibition will transform theprintspace into a fully immersive experience that explores duality in both form and feeling. Alongside the artwork, the night will feature a live DJ set and complimentary drinks.
